The Health and Care System is a place of learning and continuous development. Recognising and maintaining this ongoing commitment, while additionally improving both the quality and content of training for the current and future workforce is a significant Leadership challenge, as is the inter-related need for greater productivity and increased capacity to meet higher levels of demand.
These valuable placements give each learner the opportunity to apply knowledge to practice, for them to learn essential specialist skills and to be provided with the required competencies for them to achieve registration, thus enabling us to create a competent, reliable and resilient future workforce.
This placement strategy sets out the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) response to these challenges, which will look to mitigate risk and strengthen a currently vulnerable placement system, while improving patient care by supporting change, innovation and transformation within placement settings.
The strategy is inclusive of NHS, Social Care, Private, Independent and Voluntary sectors and will look to recognise both current and future National, Regional and Local policy.
