About the targeted prevention team
Working with partners across West Yorkshire, the targeted prevention team focuses on meeting national requirements from the NHS Long Term Plan alongside local priorities. The team identifies good practice local examples which we can replicate in other areas across West Yorkshire and nationally. We also work together with the West Yorkshire Violence Reduction Partnership to prevent and reduce serious violence.
By bringing partners together from across the system we aim to influence a shift in resources to focus on prevention. By focusing on national requirements from the NHS Long Term Plan alongside local priorities we identify and share good practice at place to accelerate and influence regional and national prevention agendas.

In July 2024, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care commissioned Lord Darzi to conduct an immediate and independent investigation of the NHS. Lord Darzi has now published his report, which provides an overview of the current performance of the NHS across England and the challenges facing healthcare systems across the country.
