About this page
Climate change already impacts the health and wellbeing of populations across the world with those impacts predicted to rise. Although a key intervention within healthcare, medicines account for 25% of the NHS carbon footprint and have additional environmental effects beyond this. On this page you can find contacts and resources aimed at reducing the environmental impact of medicines whilst striving for best patient care.
The West Yorkshire Pharmacy Network for Sustainability and the Environment
The West Yorkshire Pharmacy Network for Sustainability and the Environment (WY PNSE) is a network of colleagues working within pharmacy, healthcare, academia and other associated organisations from the West Yorkshire area with a passion for sustainability and the environment. Our key goals as a network are to provide a regional forum for shared learning and ongoing improvement in pharmacy and medicines environmental sustainability.
The network meets every 3 months and between meetings, members of the group work on a variety of workstreams and projects to improve sustainability of pharmacy and medicines. We are always open to working with new colleagues in the area.
