Today we celebrate how relationships based on trust enable the VCSE sector to engage with many of our most marginalised communities. These communities consistently experience poorer health outcomes because of multiple factors such as poverty, disability and language.
Evidence repeatedly shows that locally based organisations are an effective bridge to our most vulnerable groups and can act as a mechanism to amplify their voices and to support their engagement in mainstream services.
This page features examples from across West Yorkshire. Today's Place focus is on Bradford District and Craven.
Enjoy exploring and be inspired!

More about Forum Central's "Together Leeds" video
Working with Leeds based poet Michelle Scally Clarke, Forum Central produced a poem and film drawing on information collected through the Communities of Interest Network. The poem communicates the challenges experienced by Leeds’ people and communities during the pandemic, and also the incredible response of the VCSE.
Men’s Health Unlocked played a key role in linking Touchstone to Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, and they will be closely involved in the project, at least in the Leeds area and in linking the project to other NHS agencies.

Leeds GATE
The lives of Gypsies and Travellers in West Yorkshire (pdf)
Leeds Gypsy & Traveller Exchange, known more commonly as Leeds GATE, is a vibrant and brave grassroots organisation led by Gypsy and Traveller people in partnership with others in and across West Yorkshire.
Our aim is to improve the quality of life for Gypsies and Travellers through improving access to homes, health, education, employment, and inclusion in society.
Originally founded by community members in 2003, Leeds GATE tackles these issues across West Yorkshire. We also advocate for the community at a national level through partnerships, capacity building and systemic work.
Ultimately, our vision is a world in which all Gypsies and Travellers have the opportunity to thrive and make choices as equal, valued and respected members of society.
