A significant construction milestone was celebrated this week at the new, state-of-the-art pathology laboratory that is currently under construction at St James’s Hospital.
Leeds Teaching Hospitals hosted a ‘topping-out’ ceremony to mark the completion of the roof on the new building, which is set to support the delivery of pathology services across West Yorkshire and Harrogate and drive improvements in diagnosis for people across our region.

Chair of our Integrated Care Board, Cathy Elliott joined Trust staff and other stakeholders at the rooftop ceremony which included a tour of the building and a signing of the stair core wall. Take a look at the Trust's latest time-lapse footage which shows the finished roof.

The new facility will be part of the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Pathology Network, formed through the collaboration with the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYAAT).

Building completion is planned for the end of summer 2023 and set to become fully operational by the end of next year with services transferring throughout 2023 and 2024 following the installation of new, high-tech equipment.
