West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership has opened applications for the 2025 Improving Population Health Fellowship. Now in its fourth year, the fellowship will support over 75 local people who want to make a difference to key population health initiatives including health equity, adversity trauma and resilience, suicide prevention, climate change, or antimicrobial resistance.
A fellowship project is a specific initiative or piece of research undertaken by a fellow (a participant in a fellowship programme) to address key issues in their field. Fellows dedicate time each week to develop, implement, and evaluate their project, often within their workplace or through a larger community or system initiative, aiming to create lasting positive impacts.
The Improving Population Health Programme Fellowship is designed to bring together the diverse organisations and professionals that influence health and wellbeing, attracting applicants that are representative of the communities we serve.
The programme is open to colleagues from all sectors across health, social care, local authority and the voluntary and community sector in West Yorkshire irrespective of their current job role, grade or profession. There are no specific educational requirements and projects can be focused in local communities, workplaces or across a wider West Yorkshire footprint.
Fellows will spend one day a week dedicated to training and working on their project. The fellowship gives people the opportunity to change behaviour, empower employees and build authentic relationships with networks and partners across West Yorkshire. It will also help to support their professional and personal development at no cost to the fellow’s organisation or employer.
The health and care partnership is looking for people who are passionate about health equity and are seeking the knowledge, skills and courage to create more equitable organisations and communities.
Sarah Smith, Associate Director Improving Population Health, West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership said: “As a fellow you’ll gain valuable exposure and experience while learning under the guidance of mentors and experts – it’s a safe space to explore a passion and make a real difference. Over the past 4 years we have seen some incredibly inspiring projects and I look forward to seeing what the class of 2025 has in store.”
The 2025 fellowship will run from April 2025 to March 2026 with applications open now until 24 January 2025. You can find everything you need to know about the fellowship programme and application progress on our website.
