Third Adversity, Trauma and Resilience Knowledge Exchange 2023
Around 300 people joined our third annual Adversity, Trauma and Resilience Knowledge Exchange in partnership with the West Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit from Tuesday 21 to Thursday 23 March.
The three-day event, part of which was held face-to-face for the first time, brought partners together to share evidence, best practice and explore the progress we are making towards our joint ambition to make West Yorkshire trauma informed by 2030.
Workshops and Q&A panels, led by specialists in the field, including those with experience of trauma, highlighted the importance of organisations coming together to support people to lead longer, healthier lives where possible free from the impact of trauma.
The event showcased the work happening across West Yorkshire and beyond including looking at why the study of trauma and adversity is so important and why everyone is talking about it right now.
We were taken on the journey to date, looked at the importance of caring for those who are there to care for us and heard about initiatives, including the trauma informed personality disorder pathway at South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust. Panel discussions looked at topics such as climate change, the post pandemic impact, cost of living, trauma informed workforces, trauma stewardship and suicide prevention.
Attendees were tasked with thinking about how we embed trauma informed approaches in the work place, identifying the best ways of providing support, particularly with children and vulnerable people and looking at how we maximise the effectiveness of our interventions.
The West Yorkshire Adversity, Trauma and Resilience Programme was set up in June 2020 and includes over 450 members. See the event website for the full line up and more information about the speakers.
