Over 155,000 people in West Yorkshire had their spring COVID-19 booster in the 10 weeks after bookings opened as part of the latest vaccination campaign.
The spring campaign ends on Sunday 30 June, and is aimed at people aged 75 plus, those over 6 months of age with a weakened immune system and older adult care home residents.
By Friday 21 June 2024, 4,042,920 vaccines had been delivered by the NHS nationally.
West Yorkshire pharmacies and GPs are offering COVID-19 vaccinations for one more week, and local NHS leaders are encouraging all eligible people who have not had their vaccination yet to come forward and get protected before 30 June 2024.
Dr James Thomas, GP and Medical Director at NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board said:
“I am so pleased to see over 155,000 local people have had their COVID-19 vaccination, and regionally we have vaccinated almost everyone eligible in residential care homes.
COVID-19 remains a dangerous illness, so it is vital people come forward for their top up jab if eligible.
We have made it even easier to get protected with joint bookings online for at risk people over 18. People can book on the NHS app, call 119 for free or visit the NHS website for a list of walk-in sites that you can go to without an appointment”.
More details on people eligible for covid-19 vaccines and how to book a jab are available at nhs.uk/conditions/covid-19/covid-19-vaccination/getting-a-covid-19-vaccine.
A summary of the health conditions, treatments and medications that can cause a weakened immune system is available on the NHS.UK website, and a full definition of immunosuppression can be found in Chapter 14a (table 3) of the Green Book.
