A report into the findings of the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership’s Planned Care Citizens’ Panel was published on 24 June 2022, exactly one year after the panel met for the first time. Seeking patients’ views on delays to planned care caused by the pandemic covers the main themes discussed at the panel meetings. It also includes the panel’s key recommendations and information about the progress being made in tackling the backlog.
The panel, made up of adult volunteers from across the area who were all patients on the waiting list for planned care, was in place from June to September 2021. There were some challenges to running a temporary and virtual citizens’ panel during a pandemic, but these were outweighed by the many benefits. Read the full case study here.
