West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership are always keen to evaluate the involvement work it does and ensure the systems in place are fit for purpose. Three examples of this are:
Independent Involvement Review - July 2021 - In readiness for new legislation and becoming a legal organisation we asked for an independent review from STAND, experts in involvement and consultation. They undertook a desktop review and a number of workshops with colleagues and people involved with us to assure the things we already had. Although they felt we had an excellent system we asked them to make recommendations for improvement. We hare been working on these improvements since we became a statutory organisation in July 2022.
NHS England's review of our Involvement Framework (our strategy for working with people and communities) - July 2022 - As part of becoming a statutory organisation NHS England asked all Integrated Care Boards to develop a strategy for involving people and communities. West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership already had an Involvement Framework but we went through this carefully with our partners and those involved with us to update it and ensure it was fit for purpose for our new responsibilities and ambitions. We are happy to share their positive feedback on our strategy.
The Good Governance Institute's review of our governance and assurance around involvement - November 2022 - The Good Governance Institute agreed to work with us to look at how we could assess and imporve our governance around involvement in the new organisation. A tabletop review of the documents available for the Integrated Care Board and our five places, Bradford District and Craven, Calderdale, KIirkees, Leeds and Wakefeild District took place in September, just two months after becoming a statutory organisation. They then undertook a workshop with colleagues and we are happy to share their feedback from that time which includes good practice that could be shared. We have already progressed since this time and are working on further improvements to our involvement assurance. It is worth noting that every local place in West Yorkshire has a Partnership Committee, which is a committee of West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership (Integrated Care Partnership). The Good Governance Institute just wasn't aware of their titles. It’s also important to note this was specifically about assurance and is not the entiretly of the work taking place in our local places and links to their involvement webpages are below:
