Past Skills Future Career in the Voluntary and Community Sector
Many people look for a second career after taking retirement or when they may face redundancy. The Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Sector can sometimes be overlooked as a viable option for those considering a new direction in their careers. The newly launched Past Skills, Future Career campaign aims to raise awareness of the breath of rewarding employment options available in the VCSE Sector and how expertise from one sector can help enrich another.
Supported by the West Yorkshire Health & Care Partnership and West Yorkshire based voluntary sector infrastructure organisations, the Past Skills, Future Careers campaign spotlights eight people who moved from a statutory or private organisational environment to working in their local VCSE sector.
“The rewards are just immense, and you’ve got these transferrable skills which really make a difference to people’s lives and out there in the community.” - Anne Glew, The Brunswick Centre
Even if you have built your career in another sector you will have transferrable skills that can be brought to the Voluntary Community Sector. To find out more, follow and use the #PastSkillsFutureCareer hashtag on Twitter.
