Our pilot episode of 'Can You Hear Me?' was presented by Network member Fatima Khan-Shah, Programme Lead for both the Unpaid Carers Programme and Personalised Care Programmes at West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership. Fatima is also member of the NHS Assembly.
Yvonne Coghill
Yvonne first qualified as a general nurse in 1980, then as a mental health nurse and health visitor. In 1986 she moved into NHS management and has held a number of operational and strategic leadership posts.
Yvonne is currently the Director for WRES Implementation at NHS England, and she is a member of the equality and diversity council at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) in the United States, where she has lectured, both at Harvard and John Hopkins Universities.
Yvonne has been voted one of the top 50 most inspirational women in the NHS, one of the top 50 most inspirational nurse leaders and one of the top 50 BME pioneers and has appeared in the HSJ’s top 100 influential leaders list.
Yvonne has been awarded both an OBE and a CBE, and a Fellowship of the Royal College of Nursing, and in 2019 became Deputy President of the RCN
Dr Habib Naqvi
Dr Habib Naqvi has a background in health psychology, healthcare policy and strategy development, and is the Deputy Director for the NHS Workforce Race Equality Standard at NHS England.
Before joining NHS England, Habib led on the development of national equality and diversity policy at the Department of Health and Social Care. Habib managed development of the Equality Delivery System for the NHS, the establishment of the NHS Equality and Diversity Council, and led on the health sector’s response to the Ministerial review of the Public Sector Equality Duty.
Dr Naqvi currently sits on several national advisory boards, is the national sponsor for the Midlands Visible NHS Leaders Network and provides advice to the board of HMP Springhill.
He is also an Ambassador for the Mary Seacole Trust, and is reverse mentoring the CEO of NHS England, Sir Simon Stevens. Habib was awarded an MBE in the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to equality and diversity in the NHS.
Dr Sal Uka
Sal has been a clinical Consultant since 2009 and has held several leadership roles including Clinical Director for Children’s Services, Divisional Director for Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services and Divisional Director for Quality.
Sal is currently a consultant paediatrician and associate medical director at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, and Medical Lead for The West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts.
Nyoka Fothergill
Nyoka Fothergill is a qualified social worker with 25years experience working across Children’s and Adult Social Care services in Leeds. She has experience as a frontline practioner as well as being an experienced senior manager with a successful track record as a Service Delivery Manager.
In 2017 she successfully completed a Post Graduate Certificate with Distinction in Managing Health and Social Care. She is responsible for the delivery of the Adult Social Care service at a neighbourhood level and before returning to frontline practice in 2018 Nyoka was Head of Business Change for 7 years, responsible for the programme delivery and implementation of the ASC case management system and other key projects.
Nyoka is passionate about liberating the BAME workforce and previously had the role of Chairperson for the Council’s BAME Staff Network for many years. She has established partnerships with key agencies including NHS, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and Third sector agencies in Leeds.
